The Top iPad Alternatives
By the time you read this, we should be in the midst of testing Apple's new iPad Air in our New York labs. Based on our short time with the device at its launch event, we already know it is pretty amazing. Thing is, unlike with previous iPad launches, there are now a number of truly great iPad alternatives. Here are some of our favorites.

A Geek's Zombie Taxonomy
I tend to think Zombies fall into just two categories: fast and slow. Obviously, fast zombies are more dangerous, but slow zombies can be remarkably persistent. PCMag's Eric Griffith has given these matters some serious thought.
FAA to Allow Gadget Use During Takeoff, Landing
Angry Birds during takeoff? Fling away! The FAA has confirmed what all of us have known for years—using your smartphone, iPad, or other gadget during takeoff and landing won't cause the plane to crash. The question now: will this make Alec Baldwin even more insufferable?
Q&A: Cindy Gallop on Sex, Success, and Social Media
I've seen Cindy Gallop speak a few times and have always been impressed by her foresight, insight, and overall presence. When PCMag's Jill Duffy said she was going to interview her—in her house, no less—I was totally jealous. I'm just glad she brought a video camera. Check out the story and the video.
PCMag Live 10/31/13: New Rules for Gadgets on Planes and a Crowd-Sourced Hyperloop?
Publishing is a pretty cutthroat business so it was with some reluctance I took two sicks days this week. Sure enough, I came back to the office to find supermodel—and PCMag contributor—Coco Rocha hosting PCMag Live. Anybody want me back?
That is What's New Now for now. Come back on Monday for more top stories from the Ziff Davis Network.
