The NSA and the End of Privacy I'm not about to call the former NSA-contractor and infamous leaker a hero. Heroes don't run to the Chinese and Russians with a thumb drive full of U.S. state secrets and attempt to trade it for asylum. That said, the leaks themselves have reopened a debate that has been largely inactive in the last few years. Since 9/11, technology has made it easier than ever to conduct massive surveillance programs and the political climate has made the American public completely indifferent to it.
