I let Skycure founder Yair Amit remotely seize control of my iPhone to prove a point. It worked. The scariest part was that it didn't require my device to jailbroken, I just had to be convinced to tap a few buttons.

Mammoth Java Security Update Delivers 51 Essential Patches
Back in June, we told you about how Oracle pledged to do better with Java and to update the platform more frequently. This week, Oracle released the first of a new series of updates for Java, which they hope will make the three billion devices that run their product more secure. That might be true, but the update is terrifyingly large with equally terrifying implications.

Webroot Proves 'Secure' Need Not Mean 'Slow'

McAfee Tanks Independent AV Test
The dedicated researchers at Dennis Technology Labs puts a small group of products to the test, usually eight or nine, but they perform intensive testing that comes extremely close to real-world user experience. In the latest quarterly report five products did very well, three earned a decent grade, and McAfee just bombed.

Hacker Horrorshow Shaping Up for Halloween

In a recent blog post, Solera Network, a Blue Coat company, warned victims of this month's malware infection campaign to keep a watchful eye out for more dangers.
